World War I as it Involved in Oktibbeha County, MS One interesting aspect of World War I is that the Grandsons of the Civil War Era Veterans were the ones who answered the call to serve the United States of America. Foregoing the horrors of the Civil War and the Reconstruction Period that followed, Men and Women from Oktibbeha County Volunteered or were conscripted to serve the nation in time of need. During this war Oktibbeha County residents laid down their lives for the cause of freedom that was to be the "war that ended all wars." Robert L.
