  • THE CANNON AND CARROLL AND HAMPTON FAMILIES

    Alfred Cannon Sr. and

Lucy Ann Cannon (husband and wife) lived off of Osborn Rd near Mayhew Cemetary, in Westpoint/Starkville area. The Cannon family still owns large plot of property next to railroad tracks. Alfred and Lucy Ann had 13 Children and farmed the land near their home. Alfred Cannon Sr. (1885-1954), Lucy Ann Cannon (1890-1958) were my great-grandparents.

Muggie Carroll Hampton (1884-1971) married Pinkey Hampton who was a farmer, they had many children but I can't find them in the census record to know exactly. I think Muggie was probably a home maker and in her older years she kept many of the children in the family "Ma Muggie" near Osborn Rd. where photo is belived to be taken (children are other family members). Muggie is my great aunt. Many went to Muldrow one room school house. The families lived so close together (Cannons, Carrolls, Hamptons) that the families intermarried several times. Now we have the "Cannon/Hampton" family reunion on the site in MS every two years. I am related to the Carrolls and Cannons through both grandparents, as well as the Hampton children through my grandmother (Confusing!) I don't have any old pictures of the Carrolls yet but Buck (1890-1973) and Winifred Carroll (1895-?) were my great Grandparents. Dates are all appoximate.
