Anderson, Clifford 'Cliff' - 76 of Starkville, MS, Retired from Mississippi State University College of Engineering, died at the Oktibbeha County Hospital on April 22, 2006. A Memorial Service is scheduled for April 26, 2006 at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville, MS. The service will be officiated by Rev. Bill Livingston. Memorial Donations made to the American Diabetes Association, 200 Office Park Drive, Suite 303, Birmingham, AL 35223 or the American Cancer Society, 1100 Ireland Way, Suite 300, Birmingham, AL 35205. Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Dorothy Soule' Anderson of Starkville, MS; two sons, David and Michelle Anderson of Niantic, Conn. and Carl and Sheryl Anderson of Allen, TX; two granddaughters, Kathryn and Kimberly Anderson of Old Saybrook, Conn. Mr. Anderson was awarded a scholarshhip to the Webb Institute of Naval Architecture. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard and served during the Korean Conflict. He built and maintained the Loran Navigating Systems in Korea and Japan. He obtained a B.S. degree from the University of Michigan in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering in 1956. He worked in the Tanker Design Department for ESSO International, now Exxon, drawing up specifications and contracts for new ships. After one year at the Maine Maritime Institute Academy, he joined Mississippi State University's faculty in 1972 teaching in engineering technology and later the College of Engineering teaching naval architecture and shipbuilding. He enjoyed reading and traveling, and his hobbies incuded photograpy and sailing.
