Starkville News dated June 11, 1943 Ballard Funeral Held on Saturday Native of Alabama Succumbs Friday Following Heart Attack Funeral services for Mrs. C. W. Ballard who died at her home near Weir, Miss., following a heart attack on June 4, were held Saturday in the Salem Church, conducted by the Reverend Humphreys of Weir, and assisted by the Rev. Hemphill of Artesia. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery. Mrs. Ballard was born in Livingston, Alabama in 1876 and was 67 years old whens he died. She was a firm believer in the Methodist Church and when she moved to Weir in 1907 with her husband, she began teaching a Sunday School class which she taught for 34 years. Mrs. Ballard is survived by her husband and four sons, Clyde Ballard of Jackson, Maborn Ballard of Noxapater, Curtis Ballard of Weir, and Ethel Ballard of Starkville; two daughters, Blanch Ballard of Jackson, and Mrs. Roy Hammond of Louisville; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Russell Ballard and a granddaughter, Bernice Ballard, of Starkville.
