Services for Carroll Today Funeral services for George William Carroll, who died Sunday 3/1970 at Felix Long Memorial Hospital, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today from the First Baptist Church. Mr. Carroll, professor emeritus of chemistry at Mississippi State University, was 90 years old. A member of First Baptist Church, he lived at 312 Lee Street in Starkville. He received his B. A. degree from Peabody College in 1908 and had gone [done] graduate study at the University of Chicago. He was a former principal and teacher in Georgia and Tennessee schools and came to Mississippi State in 1919, retiring in 1949 as professor of chemistry. He was appointed the position of professor emeritus. He was a member of Abert Lodge. His wife, Mrs. Nannie Randle Carroll, died in January of this year. Dr. D. C. Applegate, the Rev. Bill Nimmons and the Rev. Perry Biddle will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Welch Funeral has charge of arrangements. Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Jeanette Johnson of Villa Rica, Ga., a great-nephew, Dr. Frank Johnson Edwards of Gainesville, Fla., a great-great-niece and a great-great-nephew.
