7-27-1956 Mr. David Carson Castles David Carson Castles, Starkville businessman and civic leader, died Monday morning at Felix Long Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient about a week. He was 70. Services were held at 10 Tuesday morning at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Robert H. Walkup officiated. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Castles was born in Newton County, Georgia and moved to Starkville in 1906. He worked for many years as secretary for cotton and oil companies in Starkville and West Point. He owned and operated a dairy farm near here for about 20 years. He was trustee of Starkville Public Schools for several years and served on the Starkville Board of Aldermen. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He leaves his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Barnett Reynolds of Starkville, Mrs. Clayton West of Cleveland and Mrs. Peter F. Snyder of Paterson, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. D. W. McIlwain of Sessums, Mrs. Spencer Murray of Starkville and Miss Ruth Castles of Nashville, and seven grandchildren.
