Starkville News Nov 25, 1932 Mr. J. S. Foster Dies Wednesday Funeral Services for Prominent Citizen Thursday Morning. Mr. J.S. Foster, 79, one of Starkville's oldest and most highly esteemed citizens died at his home on East Main Street Wednesday morning after a prolonged illness. Mr. Foster came to Oktibbeha county from Idana, Kansas in the early nineties, invested in property here, and engaged in farming and dairying, identified himself with the community, taking an active part in all religions and civic affairs. He was a devout member of the Presbyterian church, and a man of strict probity and moral and religious convictions. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Mrs. Harry V. Foster, of Starkville, and Clarence Foster, of San Fernando, California. Funeral services were held at the Foster home Thursday morning at 10 o'clock followed by interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. Robert S. Woodson, pastor of the Presbyterian church, assisted by other ministers of the city. Obituary Photographed and donated by Mary Whitaker Davis.
