Funeral Arrangements for Crash Victims Completed (Died on Feb 12 1970) Funeral arrangements for the three Starkville men who died in the Garan plane crash near Philadelphis Thursday evening have been completed. Services for Curtis Page are scheduled to be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday from the First Baptist Church. The John Rex Phelps services will be at 10 a.m today from Calvary Baptist Church and the Joseph Arch Britt services will be at 4 p.m. today at Aldersgate Methodist Church. All the services are under the direction of Welch Funeral Home. Mr. Phelps, who was 21, was foreman in the Research Department at Garan. A member of the Calvary Baptist Church, he was a 1965 graduate of Starkville High School. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Shirley Blanton Phelps of Starkville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Phelps of Starkville; two brothers, Wayne Phelps of Starkville and James Phelps of New Orleans; two sisters Mrs. James W. Jackson of Starkville and Mrs. William Webster of Ripley, Tenn. Burial will be in the Self Creek Cemetery. Palbearers are Edmond Blasingame, Larry Ming, Freddy Garnett, Larry Vaughn, Herman Echols, Jr., and Richard Howell. Honorary pallbearers for Mr. Phelps will be Perry Mullen, George Casparian, Joe James, Howard Weliver, Doyle Pendley, and Knox Faulkner. Mr. Britt, 35, research and development engineer at Garan, was a native of South Carolina. He was a member of Aldersgate Church and a Civitan. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Gardens on Highway 64 East in Waynesboro, Tenn. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Julia "Judy" Harlow Britt of Starkville, two sons, Sonny Britt and Ken Britt, both of Starkville, his mother, Mrs. J. B. Britt of Greenwood, S.C.,; two brothers, James W. Britt of Greenwood, S.C., and John Edward Britt of Stone Mountain, GA; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Burns of Whiteville, N. C., Mrs. Cathrene Schumpert of McCormick, S.C., and Mrs. Rose Hines of Greenwood, S. C. Pallbearers will be Burney Walker, Bob McCardle, Charlie James, Virgil Bolin, Horace Kitchell and Jack Denson. Honorary pallbearers will be George Casparian, Joe James, Freddy Garnett, Knox Faulkner, Doyle Pendley and Perry Mullen, along wit the Aldersgate administrative board and Civitans. Mr. Page, a native of Starkville, was 3. He was a graduate of Starkville High School and Mississippi State University. A member of the First Baptist Church and active in community affairs, he was a World War II veteran and a former pilot with Eastern Airlines. He was the pilot for Garan. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Jane Deaton Page of Starkville, formerly of Atlanta; a daughter, Marilyn Page of Starkville, two brothers, Lt. Commander Jack Page with the Navy in San Diego, Calif., and Mervyn Smith of Ocean Springs. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery. The family requested that any memorials be made to favorite charities. Pallbearers for Mr. Page will be Howard Weliver, Dr. Ben Dillworth, Al Sipes, Albert Anders, Charles McElroy, Dr. Tom Blue, and honorary pallbearers will be Perry Mullen, Joe James, Doyle Pendley, George Casparian, Knox Faulkner and Rodney Faver.
