11-23-1956 Joseph Dale Hartness Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Dale Hartness, 78, of Starkville were held November 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Starkville with the Rev. Robert H. Walkup and Dr. Fred Neal officiating. Mr. Hartness was born in the Oktoc Community of Oktibbeha County. He attended Starkville schools, and then Mississippi A&M (now Mississippi State College.) Mr. Hartness was a retired dairyman, an elder in the Starkville Presbyterian Church, and a charter member of the Oktoc Community Club. Surviviors include one daughter, Mrs. Newton Fultz; three sisters, Mrs. C. B. Collier of Florence, Alabama; Mrs. E. G. Wade of Starkville; and Mrs. Buster McElroy of Baldwyn; one brother, C. K. Hartness of Sessums; two grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Pall bearers were R. P. Hartness. Jr., William Hartness, R. H. Sikes, William White, Allison White, J. M. McElroy, L. O. Templeton, and W. B. Baker. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
