Mrs. Henry Dies at 95 Oktibbeha Woman Occupied the Same House for 80 yrs. Starkville, Ms April 25, 1931 In the old homestead which she had occupied for over 80 years Mrs.Martha Henry of the Self Creek Community in the western part of Oktibbeha Co. MS. died Friday surrounded by her children and numerous friends after an illness of several weeks. She had obtained the age of 95 and up until a year ago possessed remarkable vitality, coming to town occasionally. The whole countryside loved "Aunt Martha" as she was called and an immense cocourse of people attended the obsequins which took place at 2:00 p m conducted by the Rev. Mr. Maxey, pastor of the Mathiston Methodist Church, following the internment in the Double Springs local cemetery. She mastered the violin and notes at age of 10, played proficiently any selection in less than three weeks. She could, also, paint china, weave rugs, darn, knit , and for sometime used the old fashiioned spinning wheel. Her only source of real pleasure was her "old fiddle" which she used constantly until her health became impaired. She is survived by three sons,Isham, Tobe, and Charlie and two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Pope and Miss Queenie Henry.
