Locke, Annie Laura Goudelock - 89 of Starkville, MS, Retired secretary with the Mississippi Board of Health and the District Office in Starkville, MS died at Vickers'Personal Care Home in Starkville, MS on April 25, 2006. Visitation is scheduled for April 28, 2006 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. A graveside funeral service is scheduled for April 28, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Park Gardens. The service will be officiated by Rev. Prentiss Gordon. Memorial Donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund. Mrs. Locke was a native of Merigold, MS. She was born October 23, 1916 to Rev. and Mrs. William Robert Goudelock, the seventh of seven children. Her childhood was lived in numerous towns in the Mississippi Delta where father served as a minister for the North Mississippi Methodist Conference. She graduated from Winona High School and attended Grenada College. In 1936 she married Dr. John Flowers Locke, Professor of Botany at Mississippi State College. Her early years were spent as a faculty wife on the campus of Mississippi State. In 1954 she began her 28 year career with the Mississippi State Board of Health. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Locke, Sr. and their older son, John Locke, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Johnson and her husband, Charles Allen Johnson of LaPlace, Louisiana, and her son, Will Locke, and his wife Pickett Wilson of Starkville, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
