January 1928 Death of Mr. S. H. McCreight Feb. 14, 1868 Jan. 26, 1928 Mrs. S. H. McCreight, aged 60, died on last Thursday afternoon, January 23rd, at his home about seven miles south of Starkville, in what is known as the Smyrna neighborhood. He contracted double pneumonia about a week previous to his death. Mr. McCreight was a successful and pros- perous farmer, spent his entire life in this industry and was a highly respected citizen of the community. He was the son of the late J. B. McCreight, a pioneer citizen of Oktibbeha county. Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Messrs. Claude, Curtis, Robert and James, all of whom reside in Starkville; and two daughters, Miss Melba of this place, and Mrs. Barnett, of North Carolina. The funeral services were held at the family residence on Saturday morning conducted by Rev. V. C. Curtis, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. J. D. Ray, pastor of the Baptist church, followed by the interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery, attended by a large concourse of friends and loved ones, who paid last honors to his memory. Transcribed by C. L.
