1-13-1956 William McIlvaney Funeral services for William McIlvaney, farmer and dairyman of near Strugis, were held Sunday afternoon, January 1, at Big Creek Methodist Church. Rev. C. L. Miller, pastor of the church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Prentiss Gordon of Macon. Burial was in Big Creek Cemetery. Mr. McIlvaney, who was 79, died December 30 at his home near Sturgis. He had suffered a broken hip in a fall several days previously. He is survived by two sons: John McInvaney of near Sturgis, and Captain Grayson McIlvaney, Boston, Mass. United States Army; a daughter, Mrs. Jewel Duncan of Corpus Christi, Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. John High and Mrs. Ella Daniels, both of Starkville. Active pallbearers were: Forest Quinn, John McReynolds, Prentiss McReynolds, Shed McMinn, Willie Hendricks and Bill Harpole. Honorary pall bearers: A. L. Livingston, Morris Hamill, Marvin Adams and Burnice Jackson.
