Mrs. McIlwain of Artesia Dies; Burial Saturday [died April 20 1972] Mrs. James Emmett McIlwain Sr., 82, of Artesia died Thursday night in Jackson following a long illness. She is the former Mary Lois Hyatt of Birmingham, Ala., and had lived in Artesia since 1920. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Artesia United Methodist Church, with Rev. Norman Holliday officiating, assisted by Rev. Ronald Ballard. Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of Arrangements. She is survived by her husband; [James Emmett McIlwain, Sr.]; two sons, James E. McIlwain, Jr., of Artesia and James S. McIlwain of Jackson; a daughter, Mrs. Louis Clements of Durant; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was a member of the Artesia Methodist Church and a prominent woman of the county. Active pallbearers will be Gilbert Fikes, Thad Fleming, D.I. Shook, O. B. Adams, Robert Pritchard and Woodrow Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be S. T. Pilkinton, Sr., W. L. Cook Jr., Harvey Cook, W. L. Adams, Dr. R. T. Lott, F. N. Bolin, Morris Seitz, E.B. Gladney, W. W. Guerry, Wilson Cox and Jasper Lummus. Serving on the flower committee will be the Philathea Sunday School Class, Mrs. Sam Hill, Mrs. G. W.
