Rites Slated at 4 Today Died on March 20, 1968 Following services in Jackson, funeral services for Dr. Thomas McIlwain [Dr. Archie Thomas McIlwain] will be held at four o'clock this afternoon at the Artesia Methodist Church with the Reverend George Williams, Reverend L. P. Wasson and the Reverend Noel Hinson in charge. Dr. McIlwain is a brother of Walter McIlwain of Starkville. A former resident of Artesia, Miss., he was in the mercantile business from 1902-1908, and assisted in the organization of the Artesia State Bank where he was cashier for six years. Dr. McIlwain joined the North Mississippi Methodist Conference in 1913, and was pastor of churches in Glen Allen, Senatobia, Columbus, Greenville, Corinth and Greenwood, and served as presiding elder of several districts. From 1942 to his retirement in 1956 he was Executive Secretary of the Board of Pensions of the Methodist Church in St. Louis. After his retirement he made his home in Jackson and served several postorates including Mathiston. He leaves his wife [Effie Upchurch] and daughter(s), [Mary Gardner and Martha Wright] and six brothers: Mr. [Walter] McIlwain of Starkville; D. W. McIlwain of Sessums; J. C. McIlwain, J. F.
