The Starkville News Aug 25 1943 Miller Funeral Held Wednesday Beloved Starkville Matron Succumbs Tuesday after Illness Mrs. Margaret Sullivan Miller died after a lingering illness at her home on Jackson Street Tuesday morning. She was born in Knoxville, Tenn;, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Sullivan. As a young girl, she moved with her family to sturgis in 1895. "Miss Maggie" as she was known to her pupils, taught for many years in the schools of Oktibbeha County. For the past twenty-three years she has taught the Mill school in Starkville and was an influence for good that will live in the hearts of many who attended her school. In 1915 she was married to W. Henry Miller of Starkville. Surviving are four step-daughters, Mrs. Hugh Dale of Jackson, Miss., Mrs. Wiley Stevens of Haileyville, Okla., Mrs. N. L. Cockrell of Itta Bena, Miss., and Miss Bessie Mae Miller of New York; one step-son George Miller of Clarksdale, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. F. A. Applefelder of Washington, D.C., and Miss Edith Sullivan of Starkvlle and one brother, W. C. Sullivan of New York; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Miller was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and until recently took parts on all Church programs. Services were held at her home Wednesday afternoon with Burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery. In the absence of her pastor, services were conducted by Dr. J. D. Ray of the Baptist Church. Serving as pall bearers were H. C. Bell, J. P. Hartness, J. A. Ruffin, J. R. Thompson, J. R. Long and Estel Crumpton.
