Matthew Mims 11-1896 --------------------------------- To The W. M. Wardens and Brethren of Abert Lodge No. 89, A. F. and A. M. Death has again invaded our rank and taken from our midst our brother, Mathew Mims, and whereas this Lodge is desirous of expressing its esteem and admiration for our deceased brother, and adding its testimony to his virtue as an upright man and Mason, therefore, Be It Resolved, That in the death of our brother, this Lodge has lost a loyal member, whose life has been singularly free from every imputation of unmanliness, and who by his upright and Godly life has reflected honor upon the moble principles upon which this order is founded. True to himself, his country, his neighbor and his God. He was a useful and honored member of the Methodist church; he was a friend to all in distress; he was kind gentle and sincere, he was a loving hnsband [husband] and an affectionate father. Those who knew him best loved him most, and they are the ones who most do miss him. That we tender to his grief stricken family our sincere sympathy in their rereavement. That as a testimonial of the esteem in which we hold the memory of our departed brother, the members of this Lodge will wear the badge of mouorning for thirty days. That these Resolutions be spread upon the Minutes of this Lodge and that a copy be sent to the bereaved family and that these Resolutions be published in the East Mississippi Times and the Starkville Banner; J.
