Mitchell Rites Today

Funeral services for John H. Mitchell, Sr., of Grenada will be
held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Chapel of Garner 
Brothers Funeral Home in Grenada.  Rev. Gordon Sansing
will be in charge.

Mr. Mitchell, who was 68, is the father of John Mitchell of
Starkville.  He died at the Grenada County Hospital Monday
afternoon of an apparent heart attack.  He had undergone
surgery last Thursday.

Mr. Mitchell, who retired two years ago after 40 years with 
the Illinois Central Railroad, was an active member of the
Grenada First Baptist Church.  He had served his church as
a deacon and a member of the church choir.  He was a member
of the Grendada Lions Club.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Evelyn Angevine Mitchell; two sons,
John Mitchell of Starkville and Jimmy Mitchell of Memphis,
four brothers, a sister and three grandchildren.

Burial will be in Grenada Oddfellows Cemetery.
