Starkville News J. N. Parrish Killed in Truck Accident Services for Oktibbeha Dairyman Conducted Tuesday Morning Joseph N. Parrish, prominent Oktibbeha County dairymen, was killed about 3. p.m Sunday afternoon, December 21, 1947, when a truck he was driving left the highway, turned over, and crushed him. The accident occurred on the Sessums Road about 1-1/2 miles from that community near Hunter Arnold's place. Apparently Mr. Parrish was killed instantly and was dead when found a few minutes after the wreck. The mishap was attributed to faulty mechanism in the truck. He was on his way to his farm near Sessums at the time of the accident and was alone. Services were held from the Martin Funeral Home 10 a.m. Tuesday morning and burial was in the Stewart Parrish Cemetery. Reverend R. F. Sloop conducted the services and members of Oktibbeha Post No. 13 of the American Legion were pall bearers. He was 59. Mr. Parrish was a member of the Marine Corps during the first World War and was discharged in 1922 with the rank of first sergeant. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He leaves his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Spooks Murphy of Memphis; and four sons, Joe Parrish of Columbus, Carl Stewart, Morris and Jimmy Parrish. He is also survived by two brothers, Stewart and B. J.
