Starkville News 10-15-1926 Mr. J. O. Quinn Dies After Long Illness After an illness of many months, Mr. James O. Quinn, highly esteemed and prominent citizen of Oktibbeha county, died at his home in this city on last Saturday morning. The deceased lived his life in this community, a useful and upright one. He was faithful to every obligation and his word was an unfailing bond. As son, husband, and father, he was kind of indulgent. He was modest but he had scores of friends who loved him for his manly qualities. For a number of years, Mr. Quinn served as deputy Chancery clerk under Clerk John R. Long, but his health failed about three years ago and he was compelled to cease business activities. Funeral services for deceased were held at the family residence on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. V. C. Curtis, pastor of the Starkville Methodist Church, of which deceased was a member. After the services the remains were carried to Odd Fellows cemetery where they were interred in the presence of a large concourse of friends and relatives, and a wealth of beautiful floral offerings attested to the esteem in which deceased was held by neighbor and friend. He is survived by his widow, one son, two daughters and his mother. Photographed at the Oktibbeha County Courthouse and submitted by Mary Whitaker Davis Transcribed by C. L. Herrick on June 22, 2008
