J. Bradner Moore and the Rev. J. R. Countiss officiating. Mr. Rice, who was 54, died Saturday in Washington following a chest operation a few days earlier. He was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Arthur H. Rice. Before going to Washington four years ago to serve as an attorney for the Federal Power Commission, Mr. Rice had a long career in mississippi as a lawyer and legislator, having served as representative from Oktibbeha county in the 1916-1920 term. Subsequently, he was elected mayor of Starkville. He practiced law in Starkville for many years, having received a B.S. degree from the University of Mississippin in 1910 and the L.B. degree from the Cumberland University Law School in 1914. He is survived by his wife, Annie Wellborn Rice; and by four sisters, Mrs. Frederick D. Mellen of Murray, Ky., Mrs. R. H. Bartran of Laurel, Miss., Mrs. H. H.
