Shropshire, Frank Woodruff Frank Woodruff Shropshire, 74, died Friday, December 22, 2006, at Miss. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Lakewood Funeral Home, Clinton Blvd., Jackson; the funeral will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Lakewood Memorial Park. Mr. Shropshire was born on May 19, 1932, in Longview, Miss. The quintessential free spirit, he was an individual who made life an exciting adventure for all who were fortunate enough to know him. He is remembered by his family as a very ptimistic, fun-loving person, who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends as a pastime. He and his young bride Kathryn began their married life of 54 years as teenagers in Casablanca, Morocco, where he was stationed in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War. He received a B.S. degree in forest resources from Mississippi State University in 1960. For 25 years he was employed by the U.S. Forest Service and retired from that agency as Southeastern Hardwood Specialist in 1985. For ten years he was employed as District Forester with the Mississippi Forestry Commission, retiring in 1995. Mr. Shropshire was preceded in death by his sister, Eugenia Shropshire Thompson of Longview, Miss.; and two brothers, Arden O. Shropshire of Biloxi, Miss., and Harold L. Shropshire of Austin, Texas; and one grandson, Matthew James Eldridge of Clinton. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Boyd Shropshire and daughter, Debbie Eldridge of Clinton; and son Frank Arden Shropshire and wife Cathy of Pace, Fla. He is survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two nephews and one niece. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association (www.americanheart.org).
