August 1, 1937 sent in by Mary Whitaker Davis County Woman is Buried Monday Mrs. Max Stallings of Maben Succumbs After Long Illness Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Providence Methodist Church for Mrs. Max Stallings, 60, who died at her home near Maben after a lingering illness. Rev. Maxie, pastor of the Mathiston, Maben and Double Springs Methodist churches, officiated. Burial was in Providence Church cemetery. Mrs. Stallings, a life-long resident of Oktibbeha County, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Harpole. She was a member of the Baptist church and was widely known in this county. Surviving Mrs. Stallings are her mother, Mrs. Jane Harpole of Center Grove; six sons, Carl, Belton, Tobe, Ben and Rook, of Maben, and Lem of Self Creek; four daughters, Mrs. Tom Hartley of St. Louis; Misses Inez, Doyce, and Nina Stallings; seven brothers, Dr. T. M. Harpole of Jackson; Messers Jack, Barron, Rook, Robert, Tom, and Mack Harpole of Maben; and four sisters, Mrs. Susie Fulgham, Mrs. Cyrene Lewis, Mrs. Lydia Johnson, and Mrs. Elmer McBride.
