10-12-1956 Mr. J. M. Thaxton Funeral services were held for Mr. J. M. Thaxton, 66 of Starkville at the First Baptist Church Saturday, October 6 at 10 am with the Rev. D. C. Applegate offciating. Mr. Thaxton, who died of a heart attack Friday, was operating engineer at the Borden Plant until his retirement 3 years ago. Surviviors are his wife, the former Miss Vera Benson; three daughters, Mrs. P. D. Lee of Starkville, Mrs. Leland Agard of Starkville, and Mrs. N. E. Lindsey of Yazoo City; one son, James Thaxton of Starkville; one sister, Mrs. Lela Baugh of Maben and 8 grandchildren. Interment was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery with a Masonic service at the grave. Mr. Thaxton was a member of the First Baptist Church, Abert Lodge No. 89, J. J. Brooks Chapter No. 70 and J. J. Brooks Chapter No. 58. Pall Bearers were W. L. Vance, James McKell, and Masons: Jim Pruittt, J. H. Anderson, A. F. Conley and P. L. Reed. Barry Fruneral Home was in charge of arrangements.
