Starkville News Nov. 25, 1932 Former Citizen Sturgis Dies in Local Hospital Funeral Services for Mr. Hosea Turner Held at Sturgis Monday Mr. Hosea Turner, a former citizen of Sturgis, but for the past several years a merchant of Kosciusko, died last Saturday night in the Oktibbeha Hospital in this city after an illness of several weeks' duration. Mr. Turner married and located in Sturgis when quite a young man and engaged in the practice of law. He took an active part in the political and civic affairs of the county for a few years and afterwards moved to Jackson, the State capitol, where he published a weekly political paper for a brief period. He abandoned the newspaper field and served several counties in the state as county agent and devoted his talents to agriculture. Mr. Turner was at one time chief owner of several corporations known as the Peoples Whole Company, which had stores at Kosciusko, Carthage, Canton, Water Valley, and other points. He lately disposed of a number of his business interests, and spent a good part of his time at Sturgis where he owns a large farm. At the time of his death he was president of the Attala County Taxpayers League and taking an active part in civic life. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. O. F.
